IRKOM 3in1 ON NEW METAL SURFACES

New metal surface need to be well sanded and degreased with degreaser (IRKOM OB1, IRKOM M) or with IRKOM Nitro Thinner. If substrate isn’t well degreased, the paint certainly won’t adhere well and consecquently will peeloff. Apply IRKOM 3in1 onto the clean metal substrate with brush, roller (velour or finished roller) or with spraypistol. Previously stir the paint (shake by no means); don’t stir with stick or screwdriver, but with some wider thing, like ruler, so the pigments, resins and other ingredients can lift from the bottom. Thinexclusively with IRKOM R1 thinner; percentage depends on paintingtools. If you paint with brush, put 15% thinner. With spray pistol put10 –20%thinner(pistol nozzle has to be 1.6 to 1.8 mm). Apply two coats of thinnedpaint. If you work with spray pistol, first coat has to be slight, and second thicker, so the total film thickness should be 180microns, and dry film thickness 120 microns. Second coat is to be applied WET-TO-WET, notmorethan 4 hours after the first coat. This film thickness unables oxgen penetration and metal corrosion. IRKOM 3in1 is dry-to-touch after 30 –60 minutes, and hard dry after 72 hours. Cross-linking is completeafter 30 days, whatmakes this product extremly strong. When you apply itongalvanized metal and aluminium substrate, do it directly ontosubstrate, without primer. Substrate has to be previously well degreased and sanded.

Welded areas are the most susceptible to corrosion, even during the first hours after welding, especially if the metal was directly or indirectly exposed to the moisture. For this reason we advice previous coating of welded areas with IRKOM OB1. OB1 contains degreaser and corrosion stabilizers. In combination with IRKOM 3in1 it fully unablesthe corrosion. Appliedcoat of IRKOM OB1 doesn’t have to be removed. IRKOM 3in1 is to be applied directly onto IRKOM OB1coat.

APPLIANCE OF IRKOM 3IN1 ONTO PREVIOUSLY COATED SURFACES

Dust and loose rust particles have to be cleaned and removed from corroded metal substrate. You don’t have to clean fine corrosion, because IRKOM 3in1 directly applies to it. Remove rust particles mechanical, with sand paper or steel brush, and than clean the dust with thinner.The paint has to be well stirred (not shaked) the way we mentioned before, thinnedand than applied the same way we described for new metal. You can apply IRKOM 3in1 onto substrate previously coated with any kind of old coating (nitroor oil). ATTENTION: This paint mustn’t be applied onto the surface fresh painted with oil paint, because it will be destroyed. Thorough cleaning and removing loose parts of oldpaint and
corrosion is the most important part of substrate preparation. Otherwise, the paint won’t make strong bond with substrate.
